Cyclists who are able to ride 20-25 miles in the course of a morning
are encouraged to join the Turtles and Turbos for a Tuesday or Thursday morning ride.
Join us for lunch at the end of the ride.
Turtle Rides start in the Spring with the April-May-June issue of the
Gateway newsletter.
Maps and/or cue sheets are available at the beginning of every ride.
No one is left behind. We stay in small groups.
Bring a filled water bottle, snack, tube, tire changing tools, a pump, and lunch money.
Membership
Regular riders are members of the Gateway Chapter of Hostelling International. Go to
(http://www.moonlightramble.com/membership.htm) to join.
Rides are free for members. Others who want to ride only occasionally may ride with us for $3 per ride.
Benefits of Membership in Hostelling International
- annual membership cost is: adult $31, senior $21 (including $3 shipping and handling for materials)
- you can go on Turtle/Turbo rides for free
- members can be insured for rides taken away from home (at least 100 miles away).
Register for that insurance, for a particular ride, at
http://www.HIUSA.org
- you receive information about hostelling groups in the U.S. and abroad
Develop Your Riding Skills
For people who feel Turtle rides may be too challenging for them, some Turtles would make themselves
available to serve as Turtle Tutors. Tutors would be willing to go on shorter rides to help prospective
Turtles improve their riding capability. Arrangements could also be made to accomodate riders who find
themselves unable to complete a ride. Please go to the Contact Us
page and contact one of the people listed there.
